The European U21Championships, which was held in the Belgian city of Spa, has ended. Vladislav Rukletsov, Mikhail Tsyganovsky and Daria Kisel represented the Belarusian team.
Unfortunately, in singles’ events all of our athletes lost two matches out of three in the group stage and did not leave the groups.
In the mixed doubles event, Rukletsov and Kisel lost to Ukrainian athletes Anton Limonov and Anastasia Dimitrenko in a long struggle (2: 3). Vlad and Dasha started the match unsuccessfully - they lost in the first two sets, but managed to pull themselves together and catch up in the next two. In the decisive one, our pair lost 7:11.
Mikhail Tsyganovsky was paired with the Bulgarian table tennis player Kalina Hristova. But, in the very first match, the French pair Irvin BERTRAND / Leili MOSTAFAVI stood in their way. Misha and Kalina lost 0: 3.
In the men's doubles’ Vladislav Rukletsov performed together with Serb Dimitrie Levayak. However, in the very first match, Polish athletes Artur Grel and Jan Zandetsky (2: 3) defeated the Belarusian-Serbian duo.
Tsyganovsky paired with Austrian Promberger, unfortunately, dropped out of the fight in the second round, losing to the Hungarian-Croatian tandem Csaba ANDRAS / Ivor BAN (0: 3).
Failure was also in the women's doubles event, where Daria Kisel played together with the player from Lithuania Kornelia Riliskaite. In the second round, the athletes lost to the Russians Elizabet Abrahamyan and Maria Taylakova with a score of 1:3.
